About me: My name is Yair Avivi, an artist, designer and web developer currently living in Berlin.
I began my artistic journey as a drawing teacher and later pursued a professional career as an artist. I have exhibited my work in Israel and internationally, focusing primarily on drawing and oil and acrylic painting. Today, I work mainly with photography and digital illustration, combining the classical knowledge and foundations I developed over the years.
Alongside my work as an artist, I design and build websites for artists and creators. For me, the transition from traditional painting and artistic techniques to the digital world is part of a broader process: connecting knowledge and experience from the past with technology and contemporary ways of thinking.
This perspective also connects to the subject of my lecture—the transformation of the kibbutz from traditional agriculture into industry, innovation, and high-tech and the ability to preserve values, knowledge and experience from the past while creating new possibilities for the future.
The Lecture: The Kibbutz: From Collective Work to High-Tech
In this lecture, I guide the audience through the changes the kibbutz has undergone — from traditional agriculture, through the development of industry, to technology, innovation and high-tech. We examine the factors that led to these changes, including economic and technological developments and the crisis of the 1980s. Through examples of kibbutz-based companies, we explore how knowledge, experience, cooperation and the ability to adapt to change enabled kibbutzim to develop industry and integrate into the fields of innovation and technology. Finally, we look at current developments and the possibilities for further integration between the kibbutz and the world of technology.
