Wieland Krause *1956
is a visual and sound artist. He studied at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art, Halle/Saale, and at the Academy of Fine Arts, Leipzig (HGB), where he completed his diploma. His work focuses on long-term projects at the intersection of nature and culture, both in Germany and internationally. He uses a wide range of media, including sound, drawing, photography, video, text, sculpture/found objects, spatial installations, models, and chance-based processes.
From 2010 to 2022, he held a teaching position in sculpture and expanded spatial practice at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design, Halle/Saale. In 2015, he became a founding member of the Saxony-Anhalt Academy of Arts. His work has been presented in exhibitions, installations, performances and concerts in Germany and abroad.
Since 2015, he has been part of the IV Sound Collective together with Lasse-Marc Riek, Johannes Krause and Claus Stoermer (www.iviviviv.org).
Since 2019, he has been continuously researching and experimenting at the interface between sound and drawing. His practice includes real-time compositions that incorporate drawing gestures as a means of sound generation (spontaneous scores), as well as the development of analogue sound objects and instruments. He performs live sound works as a solo artist.
Wieland Krause *1956
Ist bildender Künstler und Klangkünstler. Er studierte an der Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule, Halle/Saale, und an der Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst (HGB), Leipzig, wo er sein Diplom erlangte. Er arbeitet an Langzeitprojekten an den Schnittstellen von Natur und Kultur im In- und Ausland und nutzt dabei Medien wie Sound und Zeichnung, Fotografie, Video, Text, Plastik/Fundobjekte, Raum, Modell und Zufall.
2010–2022 hatte er einen Lehrauftrag in der Bildhauerei/Erweiterter Bildraum, Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle/Saale. 2015 war er Gründungsmitglied der Akademie der Künste Sachsen-Anhalt. Er präsentierte Ausstellungen und Installationen sowie Performances und Konzerte im In- und Ausland.
Seit 2015 arbeitet er im IV SOUNDKOLLEKTIV, gemeinsam mit Lasse-Marc Riek, Johannes Krause und Claus Stoermer (www.iviviviv.org)
Seit 2019 kontinuierliche Erforschung und Experimente im Grenzbereich zwischen Sound und Zeichnung, Echtzeitkompositionen unter Einbeziehung von zeichnerischen Gesten zur Klangerzeugung (Spontanpartituren), Entwicklung von analogen Klangobjekten/Klangerzeugern und Solo-Live-Sound-Performances.
